My man has found himself in the middle of a vintage furniture smorgasboard getting ready to open our new shop. The furniture and other items he has found are amazing
and hard for me to let go of.
This wardrobe is one of his finds. I just love it and get to keep it.
It definitely needs some love so I can't wait to see what I can do with it. I don't want to use it as a wardrobe, but instead, add some shelves to the inside and use it for storage in our laundry room, which we desperately need.
And I'm also thinking of giving it a paint job, but haven't decided on a color. I think I've narrowed it down to white or gray. What do you think?
I've never commented but I just wanted to say that I LOVE your blog. We just recently moved into a new house and don't have the money to buy new furniture. I never even THOUGHT of painting the stuff we have. So I did my first project, a hutch, and painted it blue. I found some pulls at World Market and they are blue and red and it turned out so cute!! I can't wait to do more!!! I also love following you on Pinterest
ReplyDeleteI had a double door wardrobe that I used as a pantry in my kitchen. Even added wire shelving to the inside of the doors. I just LOVED it. Miss it terribly but it didn't fit in my new home. My daughter had the perfect spot in her home so I let it go with her. ;)
ReplyDeleteI painted it twice, dark red and then dark green. Didn't have to distress it too much as our constant use and 3 young children did it for me.
I just know you're going to love it with whatever finish you decide on. Love your site! Thanks!
Thanks Wendi!! Brenda, using it as a pantry is a great idea!! :) Thank you!
ReplyDeleteAny color would be great on such an amazing pc. It's a great find! Enjoy =)
ReplyDeleteOoooohhhh I don't know... it looks so pretty that natural wood color... You live in the best place for so many vintage finds!!!
ReplyDeleteGray!!! Love your blog and love this piece!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the wardrobe. What a Beautiful piece. Using it in your laundry room is a wonderful idea. I kinda like it just the way it is. But then again I'm leaning towards white, Lol!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great treasure hunter you have! I would paint it a fresh white with a bit of distress....as always, can't wait to see the finished piece of art! Love you!
ReplyDeleteHi Diana! I'm so happy that you're enjoying your new shop...I'm sure it'll be wonderful! How about Chelsea Gray for this piece? It's a dark moody color and will make the piece look sophisticated.
ReplyDeleteI have this same thing in my house. We have shelves in ours and use it as a pantry in our kitchen.
ReplyDeleteIt's fantastic as is. Maybe a clear coat just to seal? Won't go wrong, though, with either white or gray - or maybe split the difference with whitewash over gray?
ReplyDeleteI love Jen's idea of the whitewash over gray!
ReplyDeleteI love that idea, too, Tonya! And I think thats what I'm going to do! Thanks for all the input ladies!
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of natural wood, but if U had to choose I would go with a light grey.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful piece.
ReplyDeleteI'm very anxious for your shop to open. Be sure to share where it's located. I think I live close enough to come visit!
Thanks Jenny! I will definitely share the location when we are ready to open. Our goal is the first of March! :)
ReplyDeleteLove, love the piece....wish I had it....need space desperately.....I'm going with white wash....Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteI lust for anything with bead-board!! What a beautiful cabinet? What about taupe or a soft vintage green - like a coke bottle green? I have several large cabinets and they are awesome for storage!
ReplyDeleteAwesome find! SO JEALOUS! Love it!
ReplyDeleteOh make it GRAY!!!! Then it will go with your name. LOL But then again... white is so clean and crisp... perfect for a laundry room..
ReplyDeleteI'm no help, am I? LOL
great size armoire/wardrobe. can't wait to sew what you do with it.
ReplyDeleteI am partial to white. It goes with anything....but gray/grey is the new neutral and I think it would look good in that color as well.
You do fabulous things with wood so i am sure whatever you decide it will be lovely.
Don't paint it! It looks perfect the way it is.
