Kids Snack Tray Ideas

Happy Friday everyone!  Just wanted to share a fun idea with you in a short post today.

I came across these old metal trays going through a box of junk and I thought surely they could be used for something.
They've certainly seen better days, right?  Anyway, I grabbed a can of this.....
And gave each one a few coats and let dry (after I gave them a good cleaning).  Here's what I did with them....
I thought it would be fun to use them for snack trays for the kiddos.  My older children are, well, too old to enjoy them, but my youngest is certainly having fun using them for his after school snack.  Include a piece of chalk and they can have a little fun while eating their snack or meal.  If you have a lot of them, they would also be lots of fun for a kids party.

Have a great day and weekend!

P.S.  Our $50 Visa Gift Card Giveaway is still going on so if you haven't left a comment on this post to enter, be sure to do so before Sunday!

  1. Such a great idea!! My grandmother had a whole slew of those that she passed down to me; she used to feed all of the ranch hands with them. :) I'm going to use a few and do this; my kiddos will LOVE it!

  9. Chalkboard is certainly all the rage right now. Except that I have this mortal fear of ever hearing anything scratch it and hear that awful screeching sound... I guess I won't be jumping on that bandwagon. :) Looks great though!

  10. Now I need to go scour my local thrift stores and find myself something like that. I would totally use that while eating breakfast in bed :)

  15. Very creative! It's better they draw with chalk on the trays, than with food on the table!!!

  19. You always have such great ideas! I love to keep nuts on my coffee table this time of the year...any ideas on how to display them Diana way?

  20. I like to keep nuts in old round dough bowls or salad bowls for the holidays. But it also kinda depends on the coffee table too. If it is very rustic, I also like to use organic shaped thick glass bowls. :)

You have a wonderful imagination and I check your blog often for inspiration. I can`t wait to see what you`ll be doing for Christmas.

  22. Cute idea! I think it would be great for little ones to have something to do while eating. It also might encourage picky eaters to be distracted with writing/drawing and eat subconciously, so to speak. :-)
